About Me.

Sandra Thomas lives and works in Elgin, a lush valley encircled by mountains in the Overberg region of South Africa. She has been painting since childhood and studied under renowned artist Jack Lugg, who was trained by Walter Battiss. In 2005, she graduated with a B.Tech in Fine Art (Cum Laude) from Walter Sisulu University.

Sandra’s work is deeply inspired by nature and quiet, reflective spaces. From the beaches of East London to the rugged Witteberg mountains and the wild Albany Thicket, her detailed drawings and paintings capture an ethereal sense of tranquillity and mystery.

Her art is now undergoing a transformation as she begins to incorporate figures and faces—“a metamorphosis of what I see; not a botanical rendition, but a personal vision.”
