Germaine Gamiet

About Me.

Born and raised in East London, Germaine Gamiet is an accomplished music programme manager at Pro Helvetia Johannesburg, the cultural agency of the Swiss Arts Council in South Africa. His passion for music was nurtured in a creative home and led him to earn a Bachelor of Music from the University of Cape Town, followed by a Master’s in Performing Arts Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the University of Oregon.

Germaine has built an impressive career in arts management with roles at the East London Guild Theatre and Business and Arts South Africa, while also lecturing in arts management and classical music at the University of Fort Hare. Dedicated to arts education, he has taught at primary, high school, and university levels in his hometown.

​

His artistic collaborations span nearly two decades, including long-standing work with Amanda Bothman, a piano duet project with Jacques du Plessis, and serving as musical director for Wêla Kapela’s acclaimed Vincent production with Daniel Anderson. Since moving to Cape Town in 2021, he has continued to expand his artistic reach, most recently joining Wêla Kapela’s Mad About the Boys.
